The Porsche Macan exploded onto the scene in 2014, and it hasn’t looked back. Still in its first generation, this luxury crossover delivers both track-inspired road manners and the convenience of a much larger SUV. But how does the 2019 Porsche Macan hold up next to some of the most popular models in a deep segment? Let’s find out.

2019 Porsche Macan vs. 2019 BMW X4

For the sports car enthusiast, the choice here is pretty clear-cut. The 2019 BMW X4 posts respectable numbers in the performance categories. Its top-level 6-cylinder engine option produces 335 horsepower. But that’s simply no match for the 2019 Porsche Macan. When equipped with Porsche’s performance package, the Macan Turbo’s 3.6L twin-turbo V6 cranks out a blistering 440 horsepower. Talk about sports car DNA. The Macan also comes with standard all-wheel drive, an option that’s only available on select trims of the X4.

2019 Porsche Macan vs. 2019 Jaguar F-Pace

The 2019 Jaguar F-Pace is comparable in performance to the 2019 Porsche Macan, even though the latter takes the edge with a 1-horsepower advantage at the base engine level. What really separates the two models is design. The F-Pace boasts a distinctive, muscular appearance, but if it’s refinement you want, the Macan is unrivaled. Bi-Xenon® headlights with the Porshe Dynamic Light System, Alcantara® leather seats, and a heated GT sport steering wheel are just a few features it promises.

Of course, utility vehicles aren’t all about looks. At some point, curb appeal has to be backed up by functionality. That’s why it’s a good thing that the Macan packs 52.9 cu. ft. of total cargo space compared to the cramped 33.5 cu. ft. of the F-Pace.

2019 Porsche Macan vs. 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC

Like the X4, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC offers its own iteration of all-wheel drive — but you’ll have to upgrade to get it. In fact, having to upgrade to get what you want seems to be a trend with the GLC. Even at the base engine level of the 2019 Macan, you’ll enjoy a standard 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung transmission, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, Porsche Active Safe, and the Porsche Active Suspension Management System. You’ll also enjoy a base engine that achieves 8 more horsepower than the 2019 GLC.

But just in case you want upgrades for your Macan, they’re available. A Burmester® High-End Surround Sound System and safety features like Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Assist are a few highlights.

At Jack Daniels Porsche, we’re proud to carry the Macan. You can find it among our other Porsche cars in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey. Take a test drive in one today.
