The Porsche Cayenne has been on the road since 2003, and each year it’s met with competition from other luxury brands on the market.

See how the 2019 version of the Porsche Cayenne stacks up against the new Land Rover Range Rover and Land Rover Discovery in this model comparison.

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs. 2019 Land Rover Range Rover

Beginning with performance, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne features a more powerful engine than the Range Rover, with torque that ranges from 406 lb.-ft. on the low end to a high of 568 lb.-ft. The Range Rover’s base engine registers just 295 lb.-ft. and the lineup reaches a high of only 516, well below the capabilities of the Porsche.

The Cayenne is also lighter, shorter, and features a tighter turning radius than the Range Rover, making for easier overall maneuverability. This advantage is enhanced even further by an available adjustable active suspension system for improved handling and suspension, a feature that is not available on the Range Rover.

In terms of safety, the Porsche Cayenne features a Multi-collision Brake System, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash, along with an infrared night vision system. The Range Rover does not include either of these features.

Warranty is an important consideration for any vehicle comparison, and Porsche’s corrosion coverage is good for 12 years while Land Rover offers just 6

2019 Porsche Cayenne vs. 2019 Land Rover Discovery

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne outperforms the 2019 Land Rover Discovery in similar fashion, with a standard engine that features 94 more horsepower and 74 more lbs.-ft. of torque than that of the competition.

Reliability should never be overlooked, and in this department the Porsche Cayenne ranked high on J.D. Power & Associates’ Initial Quality Study while Land Rover finished last.

Like the Range Rover, the Land Rover Discovery also does not have the Multi-collision Brake System or infrared night vision system found in the Cayenne.

Lastly, the corrosion warranty for the Discovery is consistent with that of the Range Rover, making the Discovery inferior to the Cayenne in this regard as well.

The choice is clear. The 2019 Porsche Cayenne comes out ahead in performance, safety, and reliability, three of the most telling categories of car comparisons.
